In an era of sequels, remakes, and reboots, our intention with The Lost Healer is to present original characters with a compelling storyline.

Princess Kiva

Princess Kiva spends much of her time outdoors, so we wanted a nature-themed color palette to reflect her adventurous spirit. In particular, we wanted her main attire to evoke the colors of autumn, signifying the hopeful change Kiva brings to her world.

General Graeme

A seasoned warrior who fought in the original war to conquer Rian and Kiva’s kingdom, General Graeme wears battle-scarred armor that reflects his years of service to the High King. The Alkynite crest resembles a dragon head that, when paired with dark armor, evokes the image of fire and smoke. This contrasts the Alkynites with the natural beauty of the Arkwoods, reflecting the destruction they have brought to the land.

Prince Rian

In contrast to Kiva, Rian’s attire consists of cooler colors, reflecting the burden of grief he carries. When indoors, Rian’s costume also includes a purple lounge robe with orange designs, meant to reflect the fiery emblem of the Alkynites. Rian is introduced while wearing the robe to show his submission to the empire, but the robe’s absence in later scenes suggests that Kiva is slowly getting through to her brother.

Arran

A young and reluctant soldier, Arran has never seen war, and the lack of weathering on his attire reflects it. Unlike Graeme, Arran’s helmet does not hide his face, and thus he more resembles a man being consumed by fire than the fire itself.

Pre-Production

While bringing the first chapter of this story to life, our team explored everything from fantasy costume design to the construction of a custom-built castle miniature. In a world of CGI, it was important to us to take a note from classic fantasy and sci-fi filmmakers who worked with meticulously-designed miniatures to add a level of realism and detail.

Production

The Lost Healer was filmed at the awe-inspiring Blackacre State Nature Preserve. The otherworldly beauty created a unique fantasy aesthetic for the world of the Alkynite empire.
